Session 25 Prep
Session Title: The Protectors and the Proactive…
Notes
Section titled NotesWrite down what happens in short here so you don’t forget stuff.
- Wu Tang reflected and believes that the person who slaughtered his order was a champion of Marius or Devos.
- He also rejected The Grinch’s first attempt at negotiation.
Review
Section titled Review- Illsaiim and Mike kept the attention of Samira before helping you all escape from the netting.
- Some of you charged ahead into combat and learnt the hard way way how powerful the Weapons that Oskar Kryme’s gang wield are.
- You tried barging into Casino Cillian; even resorting to breaking down a door in the case of Graxious, only to find that the place is swarming with Oskar Kryme’s gang members.
- While escaping; you thought you’d managed to take a hostage only to witness Samira Farrow annihilate one of her commrades to prevent any information leak.
- You headed to the Starling Library and ran into a Fire Genasi woman called Allison Starling.
- You take a moment to rest during your downtime and you feel confident you’ve made progress to opening the book that Fill Werrell had found after the goblin fight a few days ago.
- Allison Starling entered the chambers and spoke with you about the weapon you’d taken from Oskar Kryme’s grunt as well about the book.
- You learnt that the weapons are indeed from the neighbouring country of Vaa’ruul; although of an older make than is current in that nation, and that they’ve been selling their older weaponry to fund the development of newer weapons.
- We ended last session with Allison Starling speaking to Graxious with a tone of recognition about his surname.
Bridge
Section titled Bridge- The date is the 29th of Sapphirus, 802 Ag
The Book
Section titled The BookAllison Starling will be quite surprised to see the only known copy of The Telltale Brothers - 0th Edition. She’ll tell a story about how one of her contacts in Olto said it was in their library once upon a time before the Shadow Cove Conflict but had apparently been “moved” by one of the Great Houses.
IF the party ask about opening it she’ll ponder a moment before saying she thinks they might be on the right track, but can’t be 100% sure as it likely hasn’t been opened in over 1000 years.
LET THE PLAYERS PRESENT PLANS TO YOU
Forwards
Section titled ForwardsFamiliar Faces
Section titled Familiar FacesThe party MIGHT encounter two people who will remain nameless for now unless heavily insighted (one of them is Marsha Corn and the other is Lucius Price; brother of Trick Price) wearing a familiar lion symbol on their chests with their faces mostly covered. They will interrogate the party first and validate their position before trusting them with anything.
The party will have to roleplay and make successful persuasion checks (DC16-14) to earn information about the city.
- When Dagult died, the news was quickly communicated to the criminal underground in The Column and Oskar Kryme took his chance to seize the throne. He rapidly amassed a following and even acquired strong weapons from foreign powers.
- The Wolf-Pelt Watchtower has been turned into a home base for a lot of those fighting with the Alagondar Trust - although they are more about protecting the innocent than progressing the cause.
- Krymetime Kannons is back in business and located within Casino Cillian - providing a home base for them at the moment.
- There’s been sightings of some weird green thing roaming around the Starling Family Sect which was transformed into a safety bunker for those left harmed by the turf war.
These people will award the party a map of Neverwinter if they trust them and give them directions to the location of The Column via Fontaine’s Fortunate Fluids. This is a new path Illsaiim was not aware of and it takes him to a location he’s never been too before.
”You crawl through endless very tight but well constructed staircases and hallways until you reach a landing about 12 flights of stairs down. Illsaiim, this is lower than you thought The Column ever went.
You are taken to a wooden door with a large steel Alagondar Lion on it and after a special knock is performed - the door opens.
You are presented with a large tavern with a substantial bar and plenty of seating room - there are a few musicians playing jovial music and the vibe in the room seems comforting. You see a mixture of people of all races; the usually expected suspects alongside Tortles, Firbolgs, Fire Genasis and Water Genasis, and a handful of different coloured Dragonborns.”
The players can talk to different NPCs and speak with Lucius Price or Marsha Corn to ingratiate themselves with the Alagondar Trust.
They can also talk to a man called Darren Brigg who’s a recent recruit and very talented with a crossbow. He wears the Alagondar Family colours proudly and will talk quite patriotically about the older times of Neverwinter - even referring to Soren Alagondar by name.
The Plan
Section titled The PlanIF the party reveal their intentions to end Oskar Kryme’s power grab; they can enter the war room later in the night and see a Water Genasi man leading the discussion.
”You see a tall Water Genasi male standing at the head of the round table in the centre of the room. He is talking quite confidently and commandingly.
He is wearing a very decorated outfit with the symbolisms of the Alagondar Family; with the royal lion very clearly displayed on his pauldrons and cape.”
Illsaiim will recognise this man at a closer look as Rowland Cillian.
”Our intelligence tells us that Oskar planned to make his move on Castle Neverwinter tomorrow but has changed his timeline due to our efforts the other night.
There has been open communication with the Wolf-Pelt Watchtower but they are refusing to do anything more for us than defend the gates and any civilians caught in the crossfire. We are on our own for this fight when it comes.
We expect Oskar Kryme to wait till the very last minute to reveal his location - we know that he has control over my family’s casino and has two of his generals in charge of defending it. Looks over and recognizes the party entering It also seems we have the additional support of The Bussy Knights; the heroes who slayed Dagult Neverember and gave us the opportunity we’ve been waiting for.”
Rowland Cillian will recognise Illsaiim after he’s done speaking and will share a dialogue with him - let this be off the cuff so its genuine.
- Rowland started the Alagondar Trust with a man named Shin who had come from overseas and always wore a mask.
- They had made significant progress using his cover as a dealer at the casino to gain information and find new recruits.
An informant will come to tell Rowland Cillian news and he’ll apologize before leaving abruptly.
If the party come here first; they can be asked to act as extra liaisons with the Wolf-Pelt Watchtower to try and gain some of the combative support.
The Protectors
Section titled The ProtectorsThe party can visit the Wolf-Pelt Watchtower of their own accord or after visiting the Alagondar Trust. Either way they’ll meet a Dwarven male called Kurrud Silverblade who is watching the outside of the tower.
While the party talk to him they’ll hear a scream nearby and then an explosion as people in blue coats attack a group of civilians heading outside of the city. Kurrud Silverblade will step in to defend the civilians but won’t press any further to attack the blue coats and he will advise the party to stay out of it themselves.
IF the party attack; he will be less trusting of them for future conversations.
RUN COMBAT ENCOUNTER 1 SNIPER GRUNT + 2 HC GRUNT
Inside the tower
Section titled Inside the tower”You see a stone brick interior decorated with the same red and gold you grew used to seeing around Dagult. This was clearly designed with his image in mind.
You look up from the main chamber and see a large painting of the late Dagult Neverember wearing a regal outfit.
One large set of spiral stairs trail around the inner perimeter of the structure and you see a handful of people wearing similar robes to what Brick Farrow and Trick Price wore on Amylthas.”
Kurrud Silverblade will explain that the Wolf-Pelt Watchtower was Dagult’s way of ensuring control in the city and that many of the members were coerced, or controlled, into compliance with the City Watch’s rules.
IF the party ask; he’ll explain their philosophy around not fighting back and why many of them are entirely focused on defence.
They can meet three NPCs in this area:
- A Elven woman called Lavendra, who will talk about how she got to Neverwinter and why she stayed.
- I’m from the Solstice Collective in The Shielded Inlands and I work for the royal family there. I’m on a mission to locate their daughter who fled the city and was last seen heading towards Neverwinter.
- When I arrived in Neverwinter I met Dagult and he promised to help me; I should’ve trusted my instincts but in my desperation to find the princess I let my guard down and he put whatever spell over me he had.
- I’m not a member of the Wolf-Pelt Watchtower but I am being careful who I attack because I’m not sure what I did under his control.
- A Human man called Micah Frost who won’t say much more than he knows he hurt his friend because of Dagult and he can’t bring himself to hurt someone ever again. Seems to be suffering.
- His friend is another Human male called Arvon Telfer who is currently a captive of Oskar Kryme.
- A Dwarf male called Raluki Longstone who was one of Dagult’s closer guards and has a pretty clear memory of Ember’s Rule.
- Recalls a day where a black dragonborn male; maybe 16 at best was brought into the fold and told to find something that had been stolen from Dagult by the trust.
- He remembers that he was supposed to be guarding the vault that day and the punishment he got for it was enough to make anyone turn to vengeance.
- He thanks his god; Arcolla, for saving him from that fate and giving him the courage and strength to resist the lust of violence another day.
