Leodel
Summary
Section titled SummaryLeodel is an orphan Bard from Neverwinter who is a former employee of Dagult Neverember. He was tasked with locating an item known as Thin Air; which Dagult Neverember has claimed was stolen from him recently.
Before working for Dagult, Leodel lived with his adoptive father and mentor; Ander Praze. Ander Praze went missing on the day before Leodel’s 14th birthday which left Leodel distraught.
Leodel is set on paying back his debts to Dagult Neverember but is not feeling any pressure to do so quickly, as he is also looking for his adoptive father Ander Praze, who went missing around 2 years ago.
He has been trusting strangers his entire life and doesn’t really agree with the idea that biological family are intrinsically stronger bonds than those of one’s chosen family. As a result of his trusting of strangers - he is a very naïve individual and does not question people’s underhanded motives. He believes all people are redeemable and does good by others.
Leodel is unknowingly a member of the Nabal Family; a non-noble family that is affiliated with the Alagondar Family.

Backstory
Section titled BackstoryLeodel was born to parents Delilah Nabal and Leo’kan Nabal sixteen years ago. Before his birth, they agreed he would be orphaned off to Quinton Alagondar in order to protect him from Dagult Neverember; who sought the pair of them for accusations of treason for causing the The Ruining. These accusations were manufactured by Dagult Neverember to get the town to turn on them as he knew they were aware of the last living member of the Alagondar Family who could strip him of his power. Dagult Neverember was correct in that assumption as Quinton Alagondar was the suspected member of the Alagondar Family who had gone into a self-imposed exile following the destruction of the town he was meant to rule. Delilah Nabal and Leo’kan Nabal did this intentionally as to keep a direct link back to them should Leodel ever became too persistent in asking questions about his parentage.
Leodel was raised by Quinton Alagondar until the age of ten. Quinton Alagondar recognised very early on the natural musical talent Leodel exhibited from a young age and encouraged Leodel to perform for the townspeople. As the years passed and his skill improved with practice - crowds from further out started visiting purely for Leodel’s ballads.
On his 10th birthday, Leodel was adopted by Ander Praze who wished to see the boy grow into the talented musician he was born to be. Ander Praze was a strict but fair father figure and nurtured the boys talents further while also developing his social skills as best he could with the time he had.
Between the ages of 13 and 14, Leodel noticed Ander Praze disappearing for increasingly longer durations of time before entirely vanishing the day before Leodel’s 14th birthday. Leodel despaired the loss of his adoptive father and sought to find him, believing he’d been kidnapped or worse. He fell into trouble with a handful of the criminal gangs that controlled the information around Neverwinter until he was apprehended by the town’s guards for not paying his debts. He was brought before Dagult Neverember for sentencing while fully expecting significant jail time. To his surprise Dagult Neverember declared he personally would pay off this felon’s debts and allow the man to repay him with work. Leodel did not question this. Unbeknownst to Leodel, Dagult Neverember had recognised him as the son of the Dragonborn couple that escaped him years ago, and plotted to use him as bait or leverage against Delilah Nabal and Leo’kan Nabal.
He has done a handful of tasks for Dagult Neverember over the past 2 years where he used his musical skills to spread information around the town. Leodel was completely unaware the entire time the information was fabricated by Dagult Neverember as to damage the careers of his political and economic opponents.
Leodel has been tasked to track down the Thin Heir, a magical artefact Dagult Neverember wants to control as to prevent the true heir of the Alagondar Family throne from being discovered. Dagult Neverember has intentionally misled Leodel that the artefact is called Thin Air and that it’s a magical artefact that helps a person breath underwater. Dagult Neverember also played upon Leodel’s kind nature by misinforming him the item was a family heirloom and that his brother had given it to him before he death during the The Ruining.
Unbeknownst to all other parties involved; Leodel is actually the chosen heir of the Alagondar Family line as he was chosen by Quinton Alagondar when the latter abdicated the throne following the The Ruining. Quinton Alagondar is the only person still alive who knows that the Alagondar Family devised a clause into their magical artefact that allowed a blood heir to pass the entire lineage onto a person of their choice. Leodel became the obvious choice on the day he was adopted by Ander Praze as he was more concerned about the people he would be leaving behind rather than for his own safety and care by a complete stranger.
Relevance
Section titled RelevanceLeodel was a member of The Bussy Knights from their inception until shortly after he and the party helped Phandalin elect a new Townmaster’s Hand, where he left to return to his life in Neverwinter with his adoptive father; Ander Praze.
It was revealed that he has some larger connection to Thin Heir; the magical artefact he had originally come to Phandalin to find. However, the truth of this connection is unknown to his former party members.
