Alberic

Alberic is a Human man born in Feldon. He trained at the Shiver Peak Monastery for a number of years before travelling to Edon to seek enlightenment.

  • Born into tiny nondescript coastal farm town with barely an inn on a far away continent
  • As a kid he was told stories of adventurers and heroes, igniting his passion for adventure and travel. Both fictional stories and genuine recounts of adventures.
  • Specifically inspired by a monk who visited town when Alberic was a boy.
  • Left town months before the age of 18 to begin his glorious adventure only to be sucker punched by reality.
  • On his last legs he stumbled upon a monastery and was offered shelter by a monk. Alberic was a guest for a few months before; at the age of 18, committing to training for the next 4 years.
  • Upon completing his physical training, he committed further to train his mind and spirit for 3 more years. (Age 25)
  • Stayed at the monastery for a 1 final year to reacclimate to society before leaving.
  • Travelled around his home continent further to test his training and growth. Connect deeper with his spiritual energy.
  • Visited home on the way to the Sword Coast and prevented and dissuaded a local gang from further extorting his parents and other townmates. Became a little bit a local legend as a result.
  • As a result of his upbringing and secluded adult life - he has not had much experience with a wide group of people. This causes him to be rather naïve and easy to trick.
  • Struggled to tap into natural Ki that other monks could. Can use it but use is limited.
  • Visiting the Sword Coast to explore the real world and gather hands on experience after advice from his mentor on how to break through his mental blockades.
  • Looks more serious than he actually is
  • Adventure
  • Struggling to unlock his Ki to the extent of other monks his level

Born into a small family in an even smaller town on a far-away continent - Alberic was the only son of a farming couple. He helped with farm work where he could and learnt about the outside world from the local adventurers and heroes who passed through town. These influences lead Alberic to desire an adventure of his own from the moment he was old enough.

One day, a monk who was passing through on some missionary work caught the attention of a young Alberic. This interaction inspired him for the remainder of his childhood, and he swore to himself he would someday be an inspiration for younger kids himself.

A few months before he turned eighteen years old, Alberic left on his grand adventure towards the mountains near his town, known as Shiver Peak. As he began the climb up to the peak, Alberic learnt very quickly just how under prepared he was for the difficulties of the path he’d chosen. Too far to turn back and not far enough to give up - Alberic only had one choice, to move forward. The next few months were a blur for him, and he wasn’t really sure how much time had passed since he’d left home.

Was invited into Shiver Peak Monastery by Zephyr Glyde and eventually passed the Test of Patience to become a disciple of the Monastery

Alberic’s Parents - Parents

Simple, farm folk who wanted Alberic to be happy

Aiwin Xyrbanise - Mentor

Alberic’s Elven mentor. Very old; even for an elf. Chose to let Alberic learn through mistakes than through lectures Played a secondary father-figure role to Alberic; is naturally caring and polite - but can be stern when necessary Similar to: Qui-Gon Jin, controversial amongst the other High Monks of the monastery

Zomon Truthtaker - Ideological Rivals

Alberic and Zomon are ideological opposites - although Alberic and he were consistently compared due to the friendship of their mentors. Alberic disagrees with his views on the absolute nature of power/strength Alberic kind of brushed off the letter Zomon Truthtaker left for him.

Zephyr Glyde - Unknowing Inspiration

The monk who Alberic saw as a child that unknowingly inspired him to seek adventure and journey in the outside world Very powerful - his fighting style is seen as a natural counter to Aiwin Xyrbanise’s
